Observers predict impact of sentence to Tskaev on law enforcers' torture practicу

The court judgement on the death of Vladimir Tskaev, a resident of Vladikavkaz, will not change the situation with torture in law enforcement bodies, Zarina Britaeva, a journalist, believes. The verdict will force law enforcers to think about the treatment of detainees, said the acquaintance of Tskaev's widow, in her turn.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that under the Tskaev's case the court sentenced 10 policemen to prison terms from two to ten and a half years. Tskaev's widow found the sentence excessively lenient. Law enforcers failed to hush up the case; and the court awarded them with real prison terms thanks to a wide resonance, journalists believe.

Relatives expected the court judgement to be harsher, said Irina Demurova, Tskaev's cousin. According to her story, not all those responsible for Vladimir's death were punished.

Non-indifferent people came to the courthouse to support Zemfira Tskaeva, the widow. Irina, a local resident, has admitted that now she does not trust law enforcement bodies.

Zarina Britaeva, a journalist from the edition named "Gradus Ossetii" (Ossesia's Degree), has noted the merit of the journalists who had supported the resonance of the Tskaev's case in the society. However, she does not believe that after the verdict and public condemnation of those involved in Tskaev's death, anything will change in law enforcers' practice.

Earlier, Zaur Farniev, a journalist of the "Kommersant", said that "such sentences will undoubtedly influence the further practice in such cases."
