Two Chechen natives arrested in Austria in case on attempted murder of Magomadov

The Austrian police are investigating a case on an attempt to blow up refugee Said-Khusein Magomadov, who criticized Ramzan Kadyrov in his blog.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in October 2020, Chechen relatives of blogger Said-Khusein Magomadov, living in Austria, held a gathering at which they cursed him for criticizing the Chechen authorities and personally Ramzan Kadyrov.

In June, there was an attempt to blow up Said-Khusein Magomadov in the Austrian city of Bregenz, where he lives. One of the alleged participants of the murder attempt was detained in Vienna, Said-Khusein Magomadov reported with reference to the police information. “They told me that they had been following the alleged suspect for several months and eavesdropping on his every word. They found out that he was plotting to plant a bomb under my car to kill me,” Said-Khusein Magomadov reported. The Vienna Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that the investigation is underway.

According to Said-Khusein Magomadov, after the murder in Vienna of Anzor Umarov, a refugee from Chechnya, who criticized Ramzan Kadyrov, he made public the names of those involved in the crime, and his relatives in Chechnya received threats. “They threatened [my relatives] to cut the throat of my four-year-old niece if I did not post an apology,” Said-Khusein Magomadov claimed. Despite the above, the blogger left another post criticizing Ramzan Kadyrov. Said-Khusein Magomadov believes that fact became the reason for organizing a gathering in Chechnya and renouncing him by his relatives, the Austrian edition “Der Standard” reported on July 20 as translated from German by the “Caucasian Knot”.
