“Muslim Unity” activist detained in Azerbaijan
People in civilian clothes took Razi Gumbatov, an activist of the “Muslim Unity” movement, away with them to some unknown destination. Arzu Abdullaeva, a member of the Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Islamists, suggests that the detention of Razi Gumbatov may be related to his critical posts and comments about the authorities on social media.
On July 7, in the village of Djeiranbatan located 20 kilometres north of Baku, people in civilian clothes detained Razi Gumbatov, an activist of the “Muslim Unity” movement, and took him away to some unknown destination, the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent was informed at the Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Islamists.
“Razi Gumbatov was transporting passengers with his personal car. He was detained and taken away with his own car to some unknown destination. For almost a day, family members cannot establish his whereabouts. Today, an advocate has joined the search, but his efforts have been also in vain,” Arzu Abdullaeva, a member of the Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Islamists, told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.
According to Arzu Abdullaeva, the detention of Razi Gumbatov may be related to his critical posts and comments about the authorities on social media.
