Relatives report disappearance of resident of Chechnya after his return from Europe

Ibragim Musaev, 41, a native of the village of Sernovodsky and an asylum seeker in Greece, disappeared on his way home from the airport in Magas. According to his relatives, the man is in the police station, but he is not registered there as a detainee.

On June 25, Musaev flew from Athens to Moscow and then – to Magas. After he left the Magas airport, he was out of contact, his relatives reported.

They believe that Musaev was detained by policemen of the Sernovodsky police station in Chechnya, with whom he had had problems.

Ibragim Musaev left for Greece in 2017, hoping to get political asylum there; after losing hope, he decided to give up the idea and return to Russia. "He is disabled and has health problems," said a member of Musaev's family.

According to the source, in 2016, Musaev was kept at the Sernovodsky police station for about a year. "His sister was sentenced to five years; she was accused of killing her child; and Ibrahim was suspected of being involved in this," the relative has explained.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported about problems of other natives of Chechnya living in Europe that they have with Chechen law enforcers. On April 9, 2021, Magomed Gadaev was deported from France to Russia. On April 11, law enforcers took him to Chechnya, where the court sentenced him to 1.5 years in prison within the case of keeping weapons.
