345 Azerbaijani citizens remain in Dagestani camp

On June 24, 115 people departed home from the temporary accommodation centre (TAC) deployed in the Kaitag District in the territory of the "Ogonyok" children's camp for those Azerbaijanis who are waiting for the chance to leave for their homeland. The procedure for compiling lists for the departure is unknown, the camp residents have noted.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that with the onset of cold weather, the citizens of Azerbaijan wishing to return home were accommodated in the territory of the "Ogonyok" children's camp located in the Kaitag District of Dagestan.

Azerbaijani authorities had sanctioned the crossing of state border for 115 Azerbaijanis kept in the above TAC in Dagestan, Samir Aliev, a deputy head of the civil defence and population protection department of the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) of Dagestan, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. The group left the camp and headed for the border, he has added, leaving about 345 other citizens in the camp waiting for their turn, the MfE source has added.

All the camp residents will be able to return to their homeland by the end of June, Mr Aliev has suggested, adding that now Azerbaijani citizens will be sent out to their homeland every day.

One of the camp settlers has noted that the procedure for drawing up the lists for departure is unclear. "We are simply gathered together, and the names and surnames of those who will go across the border in a today's group are announced. We don't know how they were selected," the source has explained on condition of anonymity.
