Makhachkala: picketers express support for Abdulmumin Gadjiev

In Makhachkala, Ramazan Ramazanov, a student, and Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the "Chernovik" (Draft) portal, have held solo pickets in support of journalist, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, and against groundless arrests.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that colleagues and friends of Abdulmumin Gadjiev are regularly holding pickets in Makhachkala demanding the release of the journalist. On June 14, three solo picketers demanded to release Gadjiev, noting that his arrest lasted for two years already.

Abdulmumin Gadjiev was detained in connection with a case on financing of terrorism. The journalist pleads not guilty.

On June 21, two solo pickets were held at the intersection of Dakhadaev Street and Gamzatov Avenue in Makhachkala. The first one was held by Ramazan Ramazanov, a student of the Department of Journalism of the Dagestani State University, who demanded freedom for Abdulmumin Gadjiev.

Ramazanov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he treats the criminal prosecution of Gadjiev as unjustified, and the criminal case against the employee of the "Chernovik" – as a tool to put pressure on the independent edition. The student has expressed his intention to continue supporting Gadjiev.

The second picket with a demand "to stop arrests without proofs" was held by Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the "Chernovik".
