Doctors find health problems in Azerbaijani journalist Elchin Gasanzade

At a medical institution, several serious illnesses were diagnosed in Elchin Gasanzade, an Azerbaijani journalist, who is serving his sentence.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 2, the court sentenced Elchin Gasanzade, a member of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), and Ibragim Tyurksoy, a blogger, to eight months in prison each on charges of libel and insult. Human rights defenders treated the sentence as too harsh and stated that both were prosecuted for criticizing the authorities.

A medical examination revealed serious health problems in the journalist, the "Turan" News Agency reported on June 14 with reference to his relatives.

Doctors diagnosed a narrowing of the coronary arteries, which can be dangerous to Elchin's health. He also suffers from intestinal problems and a kidney disease.

Let us remind you that Gasanzade was put on the list of political prisoners compiled by the Union "For the Freedom of Political Prisoners of Azerbaijan" and released on June 4.
