Chechnya now under Ramzan Kadyrov's rule

On Thursday, February 15, President Vladimir Putin declared a change of power in Chechnya: the president of the Republic Alu Alkhanov was decorated with an order and resigned, Ramzan Kadyrov was appointed to be acting president.

President Putin explained at the meeting with Mr. Alkhanov that he had considered the latter's application with a request to move him to some other position and signed a decree on appointing him Deputy Minister of Justice, the "Interfax" reports.

The head of Russia thanked Mr. Alkhanov for his contribution into development of the Republic. In his turn, Alkhanov thanked Mr. Putin for a high estimate of his work. All this time, Mr. Alkhanov noted, he had been pursuing in Chechnya the state policy directed towards revival of Chechnya, the NEWSru.com reports.

Until recently, Mr. Alkhanov had persistently denied the repeated rumours about his soon resignation. However, after the conflict around the person of one of the nearest Alkhanov's allies - Herman Vok, Secretary of the Security Council of Chechnya, - has come to the surface, the mass media became unanimous that already in the near future Kadyrov would become the monocratic ruler of Chechnya.
