Relatives of Chechen Djumaev ask to support him on the eve of trial

On the eve of the trial of Said-Mukhammad Djumaev, scheduled for May 17, his relatives have urged Instagram users to support him and expressed their hope for an early sentencing.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 23, 2021, at the rally in support of Alexei Navalny in Moscow, Said-Mukhammad Djumaev, a native of Chechnya, entered into confrontation with law enforcers. He faces up to five years in prison.

By his participation in the Moscow action, Djumaev has shown that Kadyrov's capabilities to control natives of Chechnya are exaggerated, said Ruslan Kutaev, a human rights defender.

Instagram users have expressed support for Djumaev.

"Lord Almighty, you shouldn't allow such a worthy young man with high spiritual values and life principles to be convicted," the user natmclain2000 has written.

Earlier, Kadyrov's adviser Adam Delimkhanov suggested that Djumaev renounce the opposition, promising that the head of Chechnya would help him in settling problems with the law. Djumaev ignored this proposal, and then, Magomed Daudov, Speaker of Chechen Parliament, summoned his relatives.
