Residents of Southern Russia celebrate Circassian Flag Day
Concerts, a bike rally and a flash mob were held on April 25 in Adygea on the occasion of the Circassian Flag Day. In connection with the holiday, Kabardino-Balkaria held concerts of creative groups; and Karachay-Cherkessia – a car rally and a free screening of the film "Circassia".
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in 2020, amid the coronavirus pandemic, Circassian NGOs refused from holding mass events on the Circassian Flag Day, which is traditionally celebrated on April 25 by residents of Karachay-Cherkessia, Adygea and Kabardino-Balkaria. The activists hung flags on balconies, exchanged posts with congratulations on social networks.
This year, on the occasion of the Circassian Flag Day, Adygea held a solemn sitting and a free concert with the participation of creative groups and Adyg pop stars. In the village of Ulyap, a bike rally with the Circassian flags took place, and a flash mob near the administration of the rural settlement. Besides, several online actions were timed to the holiday.
In Kabardino-Balkaria, festive concerts dedicated to the Circassian (Adyg) Flag Day were held.
In Karachay-Cherkessia, a motor rally took place across several republic's auls (villages). Besides, the Cherkessk Philharmonic Society held a free screening of the film "Circassia" by filmmaker A. Nagaplev.
