Defence sees a real threat to lives of Magamadov and Isaev in SIZO
Salekh Magamadov and Ismail Isaev, arrested in Chechnya, should be taken under increased protection after the reports that there were attempts to persuade their relatives to commit so-called “honour killings,” an advocate reports.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 4, law enforcers took Salekh Magamadov and his then minor brother Ismail from Nizhny Novgorod to Chechnya. At present, the brothers are being kept at the SIZO (pre-trial prison) No. 2 in Grozny on suspicion of aiding and abetting a militant from the grouping led by Aslan Byutukaev. Law enforcers are trying to persuade distant relatives of Salekh Magamadov and Ismail Isaev to commit the “honour killings,” the “Russian LGBT Network” reported on March 30.
Alexander Nemov, an advocate of Salekh Magamadov and Ismail Isaev, has reported that a complaint will be filed today to claim there is a threat to their lives in connection with the reports about the attempts to persuade their relatives to commit the “honour killings.” The advocate believes that after receiving such a complaint, the law enforcement bodies should take Salekh Magamadov and Ismail Isaev under increased protection.
The advocate also suggests that the transfer of his clients to a SIZO in another region is possible. “If security measures are violated, for example, my clients are visited by a person who should not visit them, then the question of their transfer to another SIZO will be raised. To launch the transfer procedure, we will have to file a new complaint again, and we will do that,” the advocate emphasized.
