In Stepanakert, activists demand to adopt a law on confiscation of property

At a protest action in Stepanakert, activists claimed that in order to solve the problems with accommodation of refugees, Nagorno-Karabakh should adopt a law on the confiscation of illegally acquired property. The protestors refuse to unblock a street in the city centre until the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) announces the period of time, during which the bill is to be prepared.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that members of the opposition movement “My Right” blocked the road in Stepanakert. They demand to solve the problem with the accommodation of the refugees who left the territories passed under the control of Azerbaijan. To solve the problem, the protesters suggest using the oligarchs' mansions built on "corruption proceeds."

The movement “My Right” warned in advance owners of expensive mansions from among the officials that if they did not accommodate refugees, then the protests would follow, noted Arthur Osipyan, one of the leaders of the opposition movement.

“We believe that all oligarch officials who have built luxurious mansions should transfer them to the refugees for temporary use. It is a matter of their conscience," the oppositionist says.
