Law enforcers release a video of a CTO in Makhachkala

A video posted by the National Antiterrorist Committee shows that after a shootout with a resident of Makhachkala, law enforcers threw a grenade inside his house and burst into it.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, a counterterrorist operation (CTO) has been conducted in Makhachkala for the first time since December 2016. According to the law enforcement bodies, an armed man opened fire from a private house and was killed by return fire. The killed suspect had earlier criminal records for involvement in terror acts and planned an attack on law enforcers, a so-called "suicide belt" was found at the place of the shootout, the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reported.

It should be noted that in March 2019, Magomed Baachilov, the chief of the Dagestani Department of the National Guard of Russia, announced that not a single active participant of the armed underground remained in Dagestan, but there was still a "large militant-supportive base." The armed underground in the republic has transformed into the form of secret units, experts point out.
