In Makhachkala, CTO legal regime imposed for the first time since 2016

In Makhachkala, a counterterrorist operation took place for the first time since December 2016, when law enforcers killed Rustam Asilderov, the leader of a terrorist organization.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the counterterrorist operation (CTO) legal regime was imposed in the Soviet District of Makhachkala. According to the law enforcement bodies, an armed man started shooting from a private house and was killed by return fire. The killed suspect was plotting a terror act, and the law enforcers found a suicide belt at the place of the shootout, the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reported.

According to the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" and the information from other open sources, today, the CTO legal regime in Makhachkala has been imposed for the first time since December 3, 2016. On that day, five militants were killed during a special operation conducted in the village of Talgi in the Leninsky District, the law enforcement bodies reported.

One of the killed suspects was identified as Rustam Asilderov, the leader of the "Vilayat Kavkaz", a terrorist organization banned in Russia.

Outside Makhachkala, the CTO legal regime was last imposed in Dagestan on February 19, 2019. Then, in the village of Belidji in the Derbent District, law enforcers shot and killed a member of the "Islamic State" (IS, a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, – note of the "Caucasian Knot").
