European Parliament has highly praised the activity of "Memorial"

The "Caucasian Knot" has already informed that the Human Rights Society "Memorial" was nominated for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize by a group of deputies of the European Parliament from six countries: Great Britain (Christopher Beazley), Sweden (Gunnar Hokmark), Estonia (Tunne-Valdo Kelam), Poland (Bogdan Klich), Latvia (Rihards Piks) and Finland (Ari Vatanen).

The official application of these persons to the Norwegian Nobel Committee runs, in particular, as follows:

"The people of "Memorial" constantly work in areas of military conflicts in the former Soviet Union, documenting cases of breaches of human rights, and using the scarce means at their disposal, to help victims of these wars."

Although Arseniy Roginskiy, Chairman of the Human Rights Centre "Memorial" remarks that chances of the Society to win the Prize are equal to those of all other nominees, the human rights defender has highly estimated the very fact of the "Memorial's" nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize.
