A young man from a video with a dance near the monument "Motherland Calls!", which provoked a wide public outcry, called his act "terrible" and apologized to residents of Volgograd. A criminal case was instituted against the young man for abusing places of burial.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that social media users were outraged by the video in which a young man with a naked torso was dancing at the foot of the monument "Motherland Calls!" on the Mamayev Kurgan. Today, the police have reported on the detention of a 20-year-old student of a Volgograd institution of higher education, who admitted that he appeared in the video. The detained young man explained that he wanted to increase the audience of his blog with the help of the video.

Mamayev Kurgan is a hill on the banks of the Volga River in the Tsentralny District of Volgograd, where the memorial complex "To Heroes of Stalingrad Battle" and the sculpture "Motherland Calls!" in memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War (World War II) are located.

On his page _sweet_boy_8_ in TikTok, the detained student posted the video in which he addressed residents of Volgograd and admitted that he had "done a bad deed."

"I pay tribute to our war veterans, to deceased soldiers <...>. I offer my deepest apologies to all of you for such a terrible <...> act. I promise that will never happen again," the student says in the video posted in the evening on February 23.

Today, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has learned from the press service for the Chief Directorate for the Volgograd Region of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) that in connection with the video, a criminal case was instituted under Article "Desecration of the bodies of the dead and their places of burial."
