Azerbaijani prisoner of war refuses to return home
Samir Mamedov, an Azerbaijani soldier who is now in the Armenian captivity, has asked to give him out into a third country not to Azerbaijan. The correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot" has learnt about it from well-informed sources.
In the opinion of Uzeir Dzhafarov, a military expert, in the future, if S. Mamedov will refuse to return to Azerbaijan, this case can create a dangerous precedent. The expert thinks that the authorities are making a mistake by arresting soldiers after their release from captivity.
We remind you that Samir Mamedov, a serviceman of the Azerbaijan Army, was taken captive in the neutral territory, some 15 kilometres away from his military unit, in the border between the Gazakhskiy and Idzhevanskiy Districts of Armenia.
We note here that Vusal Garadzhaev, a soldier of the Azerbaijan Army, who was released on December 23, 2006, from the Armenian captivity, was arrested in Azerbaijan.
