Ingush activist Magomed Khamkhoev sentenced to 3.5 years of imprisonment

In Yessentuki, a court found Magomed Khamkhoev, who took part in a rally in Magas, guilty of inciting an attack on law enforcers. Taking into account the term served by the man at a SIZO (pre-trial prison), he is to spend eight months in a penal colony.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Magomed Khamkhoev has been in custody since April 5, 2019. The man became the first of the participants in the Magas rally in March 2019, who was charged not only with the attack on the law enforcers, but also with incitement to it. The Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial"* recognized Magomed Khamkhoev as a political prisoner.

Today, the Yessentuki City Court has sentenced Magomed Khamkhoev to 3.5 years of imprisonment in a common-security penal colony. The verdict is not so harsh, as prosecutors requested, since they asked the Court to sentence the Ingush activist to four years and ten months of imprisonment, the "OVD-Info" reports with reference to the HRC "Memorial"*.

According to advocate Fatima Urusova, taking into account the term spent by Magomed Khamkhoev at the SIZO, he will have to spend in a penal colony about eight months more, the "FortangaORG", a Telegram channel of Ingush activists, reports.
