Two disobedience marchers to COVID-19 restrictions detained in Tbilisi

An action in Tbilisi against the curfew introduced due to coronavirus has ended in a clash with law enforcers; two activists were arrested for disobeying the police.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that because of the curfew and other restrictions, people cannot visit shops and restaurants; and entrepreneurs are on the verge of ruin, Adjara residents have claimed. Authorities are not yet going to lift the restrictions, as they fear a new wave of infections, said Paata Imnadze, a deputy head of the National Agency for Disease Control of Georgia.

On February 11, several dozens of the "Movement for Georgia" youth organization marched from the parliament building to the office of the ruling "Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia" Party, where they clashed with policemen. Several people received minor traumas, the "Sputnik-Georgia" reports.

Activists tried to paint graffiti, which was not allowed by the police; as a result, two protesters were detained – Nika Narsiya and Ruska Mchedlidze, the "Rustavi-2" and "Mtavari Arkhi" TV Channels have reported.

Let us remind you that Georgian restaurateurs, who took part in a protest action against the curfew on February 7, stated that the restrictions imposed by the authorities due to the pandemic were inefficient. They promised to open their establishments without waiting for officials' the permits. Virologists have also treated the curfew as an inefficient measure for preventing the coronavirus spread.
