Lawyer of rights defender Timur Kuashev's family highlights new facts in investigations by The Insider and Bellingcat

An investigation conducted by The Insider and Bellingcat has revealed new details in the case on the Nalchik human rights defender Timur Kuashev's death, a lawyer for the victim's family reports. The release of the journalistic investigation will not be a reason for law enforcers to reopen the investigation into his death, a father of Timur Kuashev suggests.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that according to the journalistic investigation, law enforcers involved in the assassination attempt on Alexei Navalny also poisoned Timur Kuashev and, with a high degree of probability, were involved in the death of Dagestani activist Ruslan Magomedragimov.

"I was puzzled by the information in the journalistic release that when Timur Kuashev was in a car, someone was strangling him ... However, I did not find any testimony of witnesses who said something about that. The results of forensic medical examinations also contain no information about something like that," advocate Zaur Shomakhov notes.

Khambi Kuashev, the father of the deceased journalist, believes that investigators will not reopen the case based on the above assumptions. "There is a hope for the resumption of the investigations only if witnesses appear or someone from the killers and organizers will confess to the crime ... But without all the above, there will be no progress in the case," the father of Timur Kuashev complained.

Khambi Kuashev finds the description of the cause of his son's death strange. "According to the forensic examination, all vital organs were out of order under the influence of an unidentified substance or virus. It is strange that they failed to establish what kind of substance it was," the man emphasized.
