Natives of Kalmykia detained after attacking law enforcers in Moscow

In Moscow, during a protest action in support of Alexei Navalny, one of the natives of Kalmykia hit a law enforcer, while another protestor hit a police inspector with a car, investigators say.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 23, supporters of Alexei Navalny held protest actions throughout the whole Russia. According to the information voiced by Leonid Volkov, the head of the Alexei Navalny's office network, 250,000-300,000 people took part in the protests. In Moscow, the police acted harshly and used rubber truncheons while detaining participants of an unsanctioned action. Policemen used force against both men and women.

Two natives of Kalmykia, detained on January 23 at the protest action in Moscow, are suspected of using violence against public officers, the press service for the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reports. According to the investigators' version, one of the suspects hit a policeman on the head several times. The second suspect hit the police inspector "in response to the lawful order to stop the car."

Let us remind you that the mass protests took place after the arrest of Alexei Navalny. The oppositionist was detained on January 17, when he arrived in Moscow from Berlin, where he was treated after poisoning. The Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" (recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent) declared Alexei Navalny a political prisoner.
