Five activists of Navalny's Krasnodar office arrested

Sofia Pilyukova, the deputy coordinator of Navalny's office in Krasnodar, and four other activists have been arrested for up to five days. Their advocates assert that law enforcers are presenting ordinary activists as protest organizers.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 23, all over Russia, including its southern regions, rallies of Navalny's supporters were held. Several thousand people took part in the march in Krasnodar, dozens of people were detained. Activists assessed the January 23 protests as the largest in the Krasnodar Territory in recent years.

Alexei Korabelnikov, an activist, was arrested for five days, although he did not participate in the rally, said Felix Vertegel, an advocate.

Alexei Avanesyan, another advocate, has said that he is defending Vladimir Yegorov, who was arrested for 10 days; during the rally, he climbed a monument to Cossacks in the square and took off his pants. Yegorov was arrested as a rally organizer, although the materials of the case only confirm his participation in protests, the advocate has informed, adding that his client "really did a stupid act."
