Participation of Stavropol Territory governor in anti-Navalny campaign sparks outrage in Instagram

The governor Vladimir Vladimirov should have taken a neutral position, and not broadcast calls against the participation of minors in the actions of supporters of the opposition leader Alexei Navalny, Instagram users have pointed out. They have stated that children are endangered not by protest organizers, but by those who use force against protesters.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Southern Russia, activists claimed pressure from the law enforcement bodies in connection with the planned actions in support of Alexei Navalny.

On January 17, Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who flew from Berlin to Moscow, was detained at the Sheremetyevo Airport, and on January 18, the court ruled to keep him in custody until February 15, 2021.

After Navalny's arrest, the FBK has released an investigation about Putin's palace near the city of Gelendjik, Krasnodar Territory, the largest private house in Russia, which is being built for money of state-owned companies.

Today, the governor Vladimirov has reposted in his Instagram page the post by Asmik Khachatryan, the head of the regional branch of the NGO "Committee for Human Rights and Rule of Law", who was outraged by the fact that "bloggers are inviting our children to go to these rallies" scheduled for January 23.

Governor Vladimirov said that he could not but support this opinion.

The governor's post has garnered many negative comments. "I thought that such a post would not appear in the official page of the governor of the Stavropol Territory with vivid calls to 'shut up.' He'd better stick to a neutral position," the user brow_brain has stated.

Social network users treat Ms Khachatryan's arguments as untenable. "It would be better for her to take care that everything goes culturally and without slaughter," the user svet_sokol_ has noted.

"You don't want children's blood, do you? I wonder, who will use truncheons to make children bleeding at a peaceful rally?" the user k__katy_ has noted (and received 288 "likes").
