Elderly Chechen woman detained for witchcraft

Adam Elzhurkaev, a theologian, has scolded an 80-year-old woman from the village of Assinovskaya for her many years of witchcraft, as follows from the report of the Chechen TV channel. Some Instagram users have criticized government officials for publicly reprimanding the elderly woman.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since July 2019, Chechen authorities have intensified their persecutions of residents who provide occult services.

Chechen law enforcers have caught red-handed Yakhida Itaeva, an 80-year-old resident of the village of Assinovskaya, who was engaged in witchcraft, the "Grozny" ChGTRK (Chechen State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company) has reported in a story posted on the channel's Instagram page tonight.

The footage shows Adam Elzhurkaev, the chief specialist of the Centre for Islamic Medicine, and an elderly woman. The theologian conducted a "prophylactic conversation" with the elderly woman, says the caption to the footage.

In their comments, many social network users were outraged by the public scolding of the elderly woman. "Adult men, what are you doing? Are there really no more problems besides this fairy tale?" the user gerdtnikola has asked.

"The grandma hasn't killed anyone. A healthy huge male with a stick is standing nearby and hasn't even offered the 80-year-old woman to sit on a chair," the user singer_film_aktor was indignant.
