For residents of Chechnya, visiting sorceress turns into public condemnation

In a TV report, a clergyman has scolded a group of men from the Shali District and a taxi driver who drove them to a sorceress. Some Instagram users have treated this public scolding of the taxi driver as excessive.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since October 2019, the hunt for sorcerers in Chechnya has been accompanied by persecutions of their clients.

"Another investigation" by Chechen law enforcers and clergymen has revealed "a whole group" of men from the village of Belgatoi, Shali District, who went "to the neighbouring district" to visit the healer Galina, the "Grozny" ChGTRK (Chechen State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company) has reported.

The footage shows six middle-aged men, presented as sorceress' clients, and the taxi driver, Dishni Khutsaev. "For the sake of material gain, Dishni Khutsaev drove the men to the charlatan for several times; it has become a sort of business for him. However, law enforcers and clergymen managed to stop the driver in time," the authors of the TV report have stated.

In their comments to the report, social media users have treated the public condemnation of Dishni Khutsaev as unjustified.

"He has just taxed, like hundreds of men; and it is not his fault that people went to that woman," the user v762nv_95 has written, in particular.
