Kadyrov wants to involve drivers' relatives in fight against traffic violations
In Chechnya, the problem of road accidents is acute due to gross violations of traffic rules and an increase in the number of tinted cars, Ramzan Kadyrov says. The leader of Chechnya has demanded to "completely eradicate" the problem, including through involving relatives of the drivers in the fight against traffic violations.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Chechen officials regularly voice threats against drivers for various violations. So, in August 2020, Magomed Daudov, the speaker of the Chechen parliament, demanded to seize cars from the drivers who did not wear protective masks. And in November 2020, Ramzan Kadyrov threatened to confiscate and burn down the cars of those who disrespect police officers.
In Chechnya, special attention is being paid to the fight against car tinting. In October 2017, Idris Cherkhigov, a nephew of the leader of Chechnya, headed the regional department of the road police (known as GIBDD), and in June 2020, he publicly ranked the wrong tint as a gross violation of traffic rules.
At a meeting of the operational headquarters to reduce road accidents, Ramzan Kadyrov announced the demand to involve drivers' relatives in the fight against violators of the traffic rules and owners of tinted cars.
According to the leader of Chechnya, the number of road accidents in the region decreased by 9.4%, the death toll – by 19.2%, and the number of injured people – by 15.8%, compared to 2019, but "the problem of road accidents is still acute."
"Our task is to completely eradicate systematic traffic violations by drivers. There will be no indulgence in this issue. To achieve this goal, we should involve not only the personnel of the law enforcement bodies, but also the public and such social institutions as families," announced Ramzan Kadyrov as quoted tonight by the news agency "Chechnya Today".
