Conflict in Tarki sparks disputes about practice of evicting criminals' relatives

The Makhachkala Mayor has reported the participation of Muslim leaders in resolving the conflict in the dwelling settlement of Tarki. Social network users dispute on whether it is acceptable to evict the family of the suspected killer from the settlement.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 3, a 23-year-old activist, Vali Abduragimov, who had tried "to unite the settlement's jamaat against drug dealers" and claimed a former law enforcer's involvement in illegal circulation of forbidden substances, was killed on the slope of Tarki-Tau Mountain in Makhachkala.

After the murder, residents told about a mass brawl in Tarki, a dwelling settlement that is a part of Makhachkala. As a result of a mass brawl that broke out in Tarki, one person was killed, a Dagestani law enforcement source has informed.

Salman Dadaev, Mayor of Makhachkala, said that on January 7, together with officials of the administration and law enforcers, he met residents of Tarki. He urged relatives of the perished person "not to commit rash actions that may result in irreparable consequences." Today the elders of Tarki and the Imam of the settlement urge young people not to aggravate the conflict; and I join their call!" Mr Dadaev wrote in his Instagram page.

The detainee's family will be prescribed to move out of the settlement, the "Voice of Dagestan" reported on January 7, citing an anonymous subscriber.

By 9:29 p.m. Moscow time on January 7, this post in the above group in the social network "VKontakte" had 102 comments. "It's tough, but fair," the user Albert Gancharov has stated. "There is no other way. No mercy should be granted," the user Murad Mirzoev has added.

However, comments in support of the eviction have also triggered objections. "It's an exile in the Dagestani way. It remains only to make something like a local GULAG," the user Misha Bely has noted ironically.
