Honouring Kadyrov's son makes Chechnya look like medieval monarchies

For the first time in Chechnya, an architectural facility is named after one of the Ramzan Kadyrov's children. This contradicts the Chechen culture and resembles the traditions of medieval monarchies, Caucasian experts note.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 25, the Chechen authorities reported on the opening of a sports complex in the village of Bachi-Yurt. The facility will be named in honour of Akhmat Ramzanovich Kadyrov, a grandson of the first president of Chechnya.

Ramzan Kadyrov prepares residents of Chechnya for the fact that his sons will eventually take positions in the power bodies of the republic, and by demonstrating his sons' sporting achievements, the leader of Chechnya is trying to form an image of winners, analysts suggest.

For the first time in the region, an architectural facility is named in honour of a Chechen leader's child, notes Ruslan Kutaev, the president of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations.

Honouring rulers' minor children is not accepted in the countries of the Middle East, states Islamic expert Leonid Syukiyainen. He has also added that children of regional leaders do not always succeed their fathers.
