Social network users criticize Chechen officials for neglecting COVID-19 prophylaxis

Amid regional authorities' threats to punish the residents who fail to observe the COVID-19 prophylaxis, Chechen officials are neglecting the mask regime, Instagram users have noted.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 2, Magomed Daudov, Speaker of the Chechen Parliament, threatened residents of the region with high fines for non-observance the coronavirus prophylaxis amid the increase in the number of COVID-19 infections. On December 3, Salakh Mezhiev, the head of the regional Muftiate, called on elderly residents to refrain to visit mosques.

Authors of most comments are asking why Daudov and Mezhiev fail to wear personal protective means.

Other commentators have objected stating that people should wear medical masks regardless of officials' behaviour.
