Kadyrov's associates become an exception to campaign against car tinting

Like in the case of the mask regime, Chechen officials and Ramzan Kadyrov himself violate their own rules: despite the long-term campaign against tinted car windows, the top-ranking officials of Chechnya travel in cars with tinted windows.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 20-23, Instagram users posted several videos about raids by Chechen law enforcers, during which drivers had to remove tint films from rear windows of their cars.

Officials were not affected by such tough measures. Thus, in a report of the "Grozny" ChGTRK (Chechen State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company) about the Ramzan Kadyrov's trip to Gudermes, the leader of the republic and officials accompanying him are captured on video in black business-class cars with tinted windows. The video with the report was posted on the TV Company's YouTube channel on October 11.

On August 30, on his personal Instagram page, Magomed Daudov, the speaker of the Chechen parliament, posted a photo with a black car with flashing lights and a tinted windshield behind his back.

The police raids highlight inequality in the Chechen society, local residents believe. "Kadyrov's men travel in cars with completely tinted windows. These are escort cars. Top-ranking officials also travel in completely tinted cars, without an escort. All other people, that is, ordinary citizens, are not allowed to have any tinting on their cars," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by one of the residents of Chechnya.
