Azerbaijan offers Armenia to exchange prisoners of war

Baku has offered Armenia to exchange prisoners of war and expressed its readiness to transfer the civilians who failed to leave the combat zone, as well as unilaterally hand over the bodies of the dead.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that full-scale hostilities began in Nagorno-Karabakh on September 27. On October 26, a new agreement on a humanitarian truce in the Karabakh conflict zone entered into force, but already in the first hours after it, the parties exchanged accusations of violating the truce.

Azerbaijan has expressed its readiness to unilaterally transfer to Armenia the bodies of some of the dead soldiers. This is stated in the press release of the State Commission of Azerbaijan, posted on October 26 on the website of the Azerbaijani State Security Service (SSS).

The release also says that Azerbaijan is ready for the unilateral return of bodies of the dead Armenian soldiers.

Baku has also offered to exchange two Armenian soldiers and two civilians for "two Azerbaijanis taken hostage." Besides, the Azerbaijani party is ready to unilaterally release the 85-year-old Armenian woman, who "was left by Armenian Armed Forces in the combat zone during the retreat," the press release has stated.
