Aliev claims Azerbaijani Army controlling eight villages

The Azerbaijani leadership has announced the capture of eight villages in the course of hostilities in Karabakh; the total number of dwelling settlements that came under control of the Azerbaijani Army since the start of hostilities on September 27 reaching 44. Armenian troops have retreated in two sections of the frontline, Nikol Pashinyan, Armenian Prime Minister, has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 10, an agreement on ceasefire in the Karabakh conflict zone entered into force, but the parties to the conflict continued to report about battles and shelling attacks.

Ilham Aliev, President of Azerbaijan, has stated that eight settlements have passed under the country's control. "The Azerbaijani Army has liberated the villages of Garadagly, Khatunbulag and Garakollu in the Fizuli District, and the villages of Bulutan, Melikdjanly, Kemertuk, Teke and Tagaser in the Khodjavend District," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has translated Mr Aliev's message posted on the Twitter.

Some dwelling settlements are under Azerbaijan's control, but we "haven't entered these settlements yet, because there is no need for this from the military viewpoint. But after some time we'll announce this," Ilham Aliev said on October 12, as quoted by the Azeri edition "Report", not specifying the names of the settlements that President Aliev had in mind.

The retreat of the Armenian Army in two directions was confirmed today by the country's Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan. "In the northern and southern directions, our troops had certain retreats. The enemy has changed tactics, trying to create chaos in our rear by means of sabotage attacks," The "Interfax" quotes Mr Pashinyan as saying. He has added that now the Karabakh Army is in full control of the situation in all sections of the frontline.
