Azerbaijani General Prosecutor's Office accuses Russian blogger of incitement to terrorism

The General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan has requested legal assistance from the Russian law enforcement bodies in connection with an investigation into a criminal case instituted against Russian blogger Semyon Pegov, an initiator of the "WarGonzo" project.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the fighting in the conflict zone began on September 27, and at midday on October 10, a ceasefire agreement in the conflict zone entered into force. However, the parties continued accusing each other of violating the ceasefire.

The General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan suspects Semyon Pegov of illegally crossing the country's border, calling for terrorism, and violating the country's territorial integrity. Semyon Pegov entered Azerbaijan through the territory of Armenia in Khankendi (Stepanakert, according to the administrative-territorial division of Nagorno-Karabakh, – note of the "Caucasian Knot") and other villages and towns and thus violated the Law "On the state border of the Republic of Azerbaijan" and the country's Migration Code, the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan reports today.

Investigators also noted that Semyon Pegov filmed Armenian volunteers, interviewed those fighting on the side of Armenia, and, "by posting on his pages on social networks numerous videos, called on Russian citizens, arriving in the war zone, to provide assistance to the Republic of Armenia," the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan reports on its official website.

The investigation into the case against Semyon Pegov is underway under articles on public calls for terrorism, public calls against the state, and illegal border crossing. The General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan also reported that it had sent a request for legal assistance to the Russian law enforcement bodies.
