Three journalists injured in shelling attack on cathedral in Shushi

Today, while collecting the information about the damages inflicted to a cathedral in Shushi, reporters have come under a repeated shelling attack, the Nagorno-Karabakh Ombudsman reported. Araik Arutyunyan, President of Nagorno-Karabakh, called the shelling attack on the cathedral a terror act and promised to restore it.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since September 27, the hostilities have been going on in the Karabakh conflict zone. In the course of the battles, villages, towns, and cities in Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan are being shelled. The city of Shushi was shelled with missiles.

On Thursday, the city of Shushi came under intense artillery fire. The Cathedral of Christ the Holy Savior (Ghazanchetsots) was seriously damaged by missile attacks. Besides, according to the information headquarters in Stepanakert, many houses were destroyed.

"Several reporters were injured in the shelling attack on the cathedral, and one of them stays in serious condition," a press officer of the information headquarters reported. He clarified that Russian blogger Yuri Kotenok was wounded.

Three reporters were wounded in the cathedral, wrote on Twitter Artak Beglaryan, Ombudsman of Nagorno-Karabakh.

On October 1, two reporters of the French newspaper Le Monde and two Armenian journalists were injured in a shelling attack on the city of Martuni in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Concerning the accusations of the shelling attack on Shushi, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan stated that the Azerbaijani troops were not engaged in the destruction of religious monuments.
