Consideration of Tofig Yagublu's complaint postponed indefinitely

The case of the Azerbaijani oppositionist Tofig Yagublu has been returned to the Nizami District Court to familiarize the advocates with the protocols of the court sessions, and the trial itself was postponed indefinitely.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Tofig Yagublu was on a hunger strike, demanding to cancel the conviction and acquit him in the hooliganism case. During the trial, he stated its biased nature and accused the court of "fulfilling a political order."

On September 28, the preliminary hearing of Yagublu's case was continued at the Baku Court of Appeal (BCA) chaired by Judge Elmar Ragimov. The advocates, Agil Laidj and Nemat Kerimli stated that they had not been given the opportunity to study the minutes of the proceedings at the first-instance court, Tofig Yagublu's daughter, Nigyar Khazi, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The judge has ruled to return the case to the Nizami District Court for the advocates to study the protocols. The trial itself has been postponed indefinitely, Ms Khazi said.
