General Prosecutor's Office checks Nevzlin's involvement in Litvinenko's murder
The Russian General Prosecutor's Office is undertaking investigatory actions to verify the information about Russian citizens' poisoning with toxic substances. The available data indicates an existing connection between the criminal case on the murder in the territory of Great Britain of Alexander Litvinenko, former employee of the FSB (Federal Security Bureau) of Russia, and an attempted murder of entrepreneur Dmitri Kovtun with the criminal case on charging of a number of top managers of the YUKOS Oil Company (OC) of committing crimes against human life and health, the Office has stated in its message.
The investigation possesses data about detection by victims of mercury vapours levels essentially surpassing exposure limits in their cars, apartments, country mansions and offices located both in Moscow and in London.
A version is examined that the customers of these crimes may be the same persons who are in international search for committing heavy and especially heavy crimes, one of whom is Leonid Nevzlin, co-chair of the YUKOS OC. With account of these circumstances, a decision was made to set up a united investigatory and operative group for investigating into these cases, the "Gazeta.Ru" reports.
