One more NGO founded in Chechnya
On December 23, the city of Grozny, capital of Chechnya, was the presentation venue of a new non-governmental organization named "Mir" (Peace).
Last Saturday, the Central Library of Grozny hosted a party of favourite poetry, held by representatives of human rights organizations. The event was attended by NGO members, higher school students and figures of arts.
"It was a party of favourite poetry and at the same time a presentation of a new public organization - "Mir" Centre for Public Development, which will work in close contact with the 'Memorial'," one of the employees of the Human Rights Centre "Memorial" in Grozny has explained. The head of the new organization is Zarema Mukusheva, the 2005 laureate of the "Reebok" Human Rights Prize to young human rights defenders.
"The basic aim of the action's organizers (HRC "Memorial" and "Mir" Centre) was to support education, promote revival of spirituality and culture in our Republic," Ms. Mukusheva has asserted.
