Inal Djabiev's funeral transforms into a crowded march of South-Ossetian residents

In Tskhinvali, a crowded funeral procession with the body of Inal Djabiev, who died after his detention by law enforcers, reached the centre of the city. The President of South Ossetia and parliament members joined the funeral procession.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Inal Djabiev was detained in a case on an attempted assassination of Igor Naniev, the Minister of Internal Affairs of South Ossetia. On August 28, the detained man died. Photos with signs of severe beatings on the detainee's body were disseminated on the Internet. Eight employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) were detained in the case on the Inal Djabiev's death.

Today, the funeral procession with the body of Inal Djabiev has left his house and reached the main square of Tskhinvali.

Thousands of people gathered in the centre of Tskhinvali. In particular, South-Ossetian President Anatoly Bibilov and parliament members joined the funeral procession, the "Echo of Caucasus" reported.

On August 28, the death of Inal Djabiev provoked a rally in front of the government building in Tskhinvali. The protesters demanded the resignation of the Cabinet of Ministers and then South-Ossetian leader Anatoly Bibilov. Prime Minister Erik Pukhaev resigned voluntarily, followed by the resignation of the entire government. Eduard Kokoity, the former President of South Ossetia, recorded a video appeal in which he called on Anatoly Bibilov to resign.
