Tskhinvali protesters go home

The protesters who gathered in front of the building of the Cabinet of Ministers (CoM) in Tskhinval and demanded resignation of the head of South Ossetia have gone home, said Merab Pukhaev, the acting head of the republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 28, several hundred residents gathered near the CoM's building in Tskhinvali, demanding resignation of the government. It happened after photos of Inal Djabiev with traces of beatings had appeared on the Internet. He was detained within the case of an attempt on the life of the head of the MIA of South Ossetia. Amid protests, Anatoly Bibilov, the South-Ossetian President, accepted resignation of Eric Pukhaev, the CoM's head (Premier).

The spontaneous rally ended in the morning, Zaza Driaev, the head of the parliamentary committee for foreign policy and inter-parliamentary relations of South Ossetia, has reported. "At the session, the MPs will raise the issue of general prosecutor's resignation," the TASS quotes him as saying.

Merab Pukhaev, the acting head of the MIA, said that the situation in the city is now calm.
