NKR accuses Azerbaijan of 350 shelling attacks during week

The Azerbaijani side has violated the ceasefire regime on the troops contact line for about 350 times, firing more than 3500 shots, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) has reported today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that by August 15, the NKR's MoD counted more than 6000 shots fire by Azerbaijan within the past week.

"On August 16-22, the Azerbaijani side violated the ceasefire on the troops contact line for about 350 times on the contact line of the Armed Forces of Artsakh (NKR) and Azerbaijan, firing more than 3500 rounds of small arms of various calibre in the direction of Armenian positions," says the statement posted on the website of the NKR's MoD, translated by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

By the today's midday Moscow time, the Azerbaijani MoD had not commented on this statement on its website. At the same time, earlier it claimed 34 attacks committed by Armenia over the past 24 hours.

The conflict escalated on July 12, when Azerbaijan accused Armenia of trying to attack its positions. According to the Armenian side, the reason for escalation was an Azerbaijan's attempt to break through the border. According to official information, from July 12 to July 27, six military servicemen perished and 38 others were wounded from the Armenian side. In their turn, Azerbaijani authorities reported 13 killed and four wounded militaries.
