Azerbaijan accuses Armenia of shelling six villages
The positions of the Azerbaijani Army were shelled in the villages of the border regions and on the territory of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic (NAR), the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has informed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 20, Azerbaijan accused Armenia of shelling its positions in the Tovuz and Gadabay Districts, as well as on the NAR territory.
"For the last 24 hours, units of the Armed Forces of Armenia, by using large-calibre machine guns and sniper rifles, violated the ceasefire for 35 times in various sections of the frontline," says the today's post on the website of the Azerbaijani MoD.
As of 10:30 a.m. Moscow time today, the MoDs of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh had not commented on this statement on their websites.
The conflict escalated on July 12, when Azerbaijan accused Armenia of trying to attack its positions. According to the Armenian side, the reason for escalation was an Azerbaijan's attempt to break through the border. According to official information, from July 12 to July 27, six military servicemen perished and 38 others were wounded from the Armenian side. In their turn, Azerbaijani authorities reported 13 killed and four wounded militaries.
