Chechen residents express their indignation with increased control over wearing masks

Ruslan Alkhanov, the Chechen Minister of Internal Affairs, instructed his subordinates to monitor the compliance with the mask regime even more strictly. Instagram users note that the coronavirus prevention measures in the region are already excessive.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in late July, the authorities of Chechnya tightened the measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus infection. Meanwhile, Ramzan Kadyrov himself and his associates defiantly ignore the mask regime, and that fact irritates local residents, analysts note.

"We cannot calm down as long as there is at least one coronavirus-infected person brought to a hospital," Ruslan Alkhanov announced in a video posted on Instagram by the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

"More people will soon die from stress than from the coronavirus! The people are already tired of being afraid of everyone and everything," wrote user aza_9588. Meanwhile, user sul9188 noted that no similar strict requirements were imposed in the neighbouring regions.

The total number of cases of the coronavirus infection in the republic has reached 2170, and 35 people died, the "Stopcoronavirus" website reported.
