Human rights defenders concerned about fate of Ingush wrestler after CTO
Relatives of athlete Muslim Yevloev should file a complaint with the police about a kidnapping and demand from the law enforcement bodies to report about their actions during the counterterrorist operation (CTO) held in Nazran, human rights defenders believe.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 6, the CTO took place in Nazran and in the village of Sagopshi in the Malgobek District of Ingushetia. The National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reported about two militants killed and another detained. Sources mentioned Muslim Yevloev, an Asian freestyle wrestling champion, as one of the killed suspects. However, according to other sources, the wrestler was not killed, but fled. The Ingush "Kusht" Sports Club claimed that the athlete was alive, but "a case was being fabricated against him." A friend of Muslim Yevloev said that the wrestler did not share extremist views.
The parents of Muslim Yevloev should fear for his life, believes Svetlana Gannushkina, the chair of the "Civic Assistance Committee". According to the human rights defender, the wrestler's parents should file a complaint with the police about the kidnapping of their son.
Leonid Petrashis, the chairman of the Public Monitoring Commission (PMC) for the Rostov Region, believes that making the case public would help.
