Chechen law enforcer equates smokers to terrorists

The residents of Chechnya-cigarette-smokers should be attracted to public works, a local police officer has announced. By comparing smokers to drug addicts and terrorists, he threatened them with public rebukes and forced cleaning of mosques.

The video clip was posted in the "ChP Grozny_95" Instagram page.

"We need to explain the youth what terrorism and drug addiction are ... These people must be severely punished, and forced to clean mosques and madrassas. If they lose decency and lack due education, they turn into drug addicts and terrorists ... Since our Padishah (Ramzan Kadyrov) entrusted us with the district, we'll guard it," said the man in the video.

Let us remind you that in January law enforcers forced residents of the Kurchaloi District to clean mosque territory as punishment for driving in a drunken state; and one of the heads of the ROVD (District Interior Division) treated such violators as "terrorists."

In March, Rustam Aguev, the head of the Kurchaloi ROVD, who chastised the detainees for drinking alcohol and using psychotropic substances, also called them "terrorists." Some social network users then supported the condemnation of the detainees.
