Chechen Mufti's instructions about weddings surprise social network users

It is recommended to invite minimum of guests to the wedding; while a wedding cortege should not consist of more than two cars, Salakh Mezhiev, the Mufti of Chechnya, has announced. His statement looks illogic amid the authorities' lift of ban on weddings, Instagram users believe.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 7, the authorities of Chechnya announced the cancellation of the ban on holding weddings in restaurants and banquet halls, provided that the halls are filled by no more than half, and the participants follow the security measures and social distance.

In his turn, Salakh-Haji Mezhiev, the Mufti of Chechnya, made a video appeal, in which he reiterated that the wedding ceremony should be held within the family circle, with a minimum number of guests. More than two cars are still not allowed in the wedding cortege.

The Mezhiev's video appeal, posted on the "Grozny" TV page on the Instagram, caused criticism of social network users. "What's the difference, two cars or twenty? After all, everyone drives on this highway ... some to work, others to a wedding," the user miia7595 has pointed to the absurdity of limiting the number of cars in the cortege. "And what does the motorcade have to do with it, I don't understand. One car is driving – what, will [the virus] jump to another car?" the user qwertyy199944 is surprised.

Commentators have also indicated that continuing restricting the number of cars in the cortege after lifting the ban on weddings in restaurants is inconsistent. "And what about restaurants? Why have they opened them at all? As many people visit them as there are at a wedding! Here you have the infection!" the user ayata07 has stressed.
