Kadyrov orders to seize cars from long wedding corteges

The cars of violators of restrictions on holding wedding ceremonies will be seized and sold with transfer of funds to the medical sphere, while violators will be sent as volunteers to hospitals, the head of Chechnya has stated. However, he announced the third phase of quarantine mitigation since June 20.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 25, the Mufti of Chechnya announced the lifting of the ban on marriage according to the norms of Islam, which had been introduced because of coronavirus. Mufti Mezhiev noted that only the Imam and witnesses are allowed to participate in the ceremony, while crowded celebrations are prohibited. Residents of the republic treat the lifting of the ban as premature.

The Chechen authorities, being among the first to lift the ban on weddings, want to compensate for the psychological fatigue of local residents from quarantine, Orientalists have suggested.

The head of Chechnya has harshly criticized violators of the rules for organizing weddings.

According to restrictions introduced in Chechnya, the wedding procession should include no more than two or three cars, including a car with the bride.

Kadyrov's discontent was caused by the wedding a few days ago, the Chechen Muftiate has explained.

Ramzan Kadyrov had earlier threatened that he would deprive quarantine violators of their cars. On April 13, when strict self-isolation was introduced in Chechnya, he threatened to burn down the cars of those dissatisfied with the policemen's actions.
