Third suspect of attempt on Tumso named

On suspicion of involvement in the attack on the Chechen blogger, Tumso Abdurakhmanov, Imran Khaskhanov has been arrested in absentia in Sweden, the city court of Gävle has informed. Khaskhanov is a Russian citizen, the "Vayfond" Association has added.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 26, in Sweden, the well-known Chechen blogger, Tumso Abdurakhmanov, was attacked by a man who penetrated his apartment with a hammer. Abdurakhmanov managed to disarm the attacker and called the police. On June 11, the city court of the Swedish city of Gävle decided to arrest in absentia the third suspect, whom investigators treat as a figurant in the attack on the blogger. Then, the Prosecutor's Office and the Swedish Security Service did not name the suspect.

Now, the Gävle City Court has arrested Imran Khaskhanov in absentia, the TASS has reported citing the documents of the court. The TASS notes that the Prosecutor's Office has justified Khaskhanov's arrest by his chance of avoiding punishment. "There is a risk that the suspect, having destroyed the proofs, will complicate the inquiry. There is a risk that the suspect will continue his criminal activities," the TASS quotes the Swedish Prosecutor's Office.

The "Vayfond" Association has also confirmed that the third suspect of the assassination attempt on Abdurakhmanov is Imran Khaskhanov. He is a citizen of Russia, the Association's website wrote on June 12.
