Azerbaijani citizens complain of uncertainty about their return home

Azerbaijani authorities have promised to accept, on June 15, another group of their citizens from among those, who are waiting in Dagestan for crossing the border, but they failed to announce the particular list of people, the residents of tent camps have stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 9, a group of 130 Azerbaijani citizens who had been waiting in Dagestan managed to cross the border and get to their homeland. Their fellow countrymen, remaining in the tent camp near the village of Kullar, have suspended their mass hunger strike, which they announced on June 3 demanding to accelerate their return home.

Another group of Azerbaijanis will be able to leave Dagestan on June 15, but the list of the group is unknown, Akim Babaev, a 25-year-old resident of Azerbaijan, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, those awaiting the opening of the border "have long run out of patience." "The sun, the heat, everyone has nerves at the limit. They all want to return home, to their families, whom they haven't seen for a year or more. [...] They say that the list of people preparing for returning is coordinated by Azerbaijan. However, we don't know by what principle they are selected. There are still patients with chronic diseases here. Not everyone here can endure the heat and the sun; there're many disabled people here," Mr Babaev has explained.

He has treated the conditions in the camp, as "far from being the best, but tolerable in the field." "If someone needs medical care, it is rendered. They provide meals three times a day," the man has added.
