Eight Ingush activists put on federal list of extremists

The names of Ingush protest leaders, accused under the case of extremist community are included into the updated list of people involved in extremist activities published today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the activists Akhmed Barakhoev, Malsag Uzhakhov and Musa Malsagov have been accused of creating an extremist community; and Barakh Chemurziev, Ismail Nalgiev, Zarifa Sautieva, Bagaudin Khautiev and Akhmed Pogorov – of participating in this community. Malsagov's advocate has treated the investigators' version about the extremist community of Ingush activists as absurd.

On March 26, 2019, opponents of the Chechen-Ingush border agreement, who also succeeded in seeking the resignation of Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov, did not leave the square after the sanctioned rally in Magas. When the police tried to disperse them, clashes occurred between the protestors and law enforcers. Since early April 2019, mass arrests of activists took place in the republic, and at least 29 people were involved in criminal cases as defendants.

The activists Malsag Uzhakhov, Akhmed Barakhoev, Musa Malsagov, Barakh Chemurziev, Akhmed Pogorov, Zarifa Sautieva, Bagaudin Khautiev and Ismail Nalgiev have been included in the list of people "in whose relation there is information about their involvement in extremist activities or terrorism." The updated list has been posted today on the website of the "Rossijskaya Gazeta" newspaper.

Let us remind you that the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" has announced Akhmed Barakhoev, Musa Malsagov, Barakh Chemurziev, Zarifa Sautieva and Bagaudin Khautiev to be political prisoners.
