Residents of Chechnya draw attention to authorities' ignoring mask regime

All the participants of the meeting of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, with hospital chief physicians, a report about which was shown by the "Grozny" TV Channel, were without medical masks. The mandatory mask regime is ignored by officials and doctors themselves, residents of the republic were indignant.

Chechnya is under the mandatory mask-wearing regime since May 6; its violators are fined.

The residents of Chechnya, interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, have expressed their indignation at the fact that Kadyrov and the heads of medical establishments were without masks at the meeting.

"Kadyrov himself said the other day that masks must be worn, but for some reason the leadership itself fails to follow these requirements. This is a typical practice of double standards, which triggers outrage among ordinary citizens," Umar, a local resident, believes.

"Either they deliberately mislead people, or there's no danger of coronavirus. How else can we explain the complete ignoring the obligatory mask-wearing regime by the leadership and doctors?" Marina, a resident of Grozny, has asked.

Earlier, experts stated that residents of Chechnya were tired of the self-isolation regime.

"The authorities and those close thereto feel themselves not restricted by anything – they meet and hold picnics with barbecue and concerts," Tumso Abdurakhmanov, a blogger, has stated.
